Sometimes there’s nothing better than booting up one of your favourite games from the Nintendo DS, GBA or GameBoy. It’s no wonder, since these handhelds had some of the most iconic and popular games of all times.

Unfortunately keeping a second device in your pocket to play them isn’t always practical. That’s why we did research and find some of our favourite emulators, that run well and play your favourite games on your phone!

1. RetroArch

Our top recommendation has to be RetroArch. It’s in all-in-one emulator, and being an open-source project it gets a lot of new development, support and contribution from the emulation community.

The setup of the app can bit a little bit time consuming, as you will have to install the Game Systems you would like to emulate yourself, and then install the games. But if you value having a completely ad-free gaming experience, no tracking and absolutely no in-app purchases this might be worth the setup!

2. Lemuroid

Another great and new choice is Lemuroid. It’s based on the Retro Arch emulator and focuses on providing a great user experience, with minimal design. It also is open-source, has no ads nor in app purchases and supports a large variety of game systems.
